The 1959 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud I is a classic luxury car and the first in the Silver Cloud series. The Silver Cloud I has a 4.9 L (300 cu in) inline six-cylinder engine, carried over from the pre-war Silver Wraith. It was considered smoother than the V8 engine in the later Silver Cloud II. Description

The Silver Cloud I could reach a top speed over 100 mph and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 13.5 seconds. It was known for its smooth ride quality, which was a hallmark of Rolls-Royce vehicles. The car had a curvy body shell designed by J.P. Blatchley along with featuring a steel chassis with a 123-inch wheelbase. A long-wheelbase version, offering improved rear-seat legroom, was also available from September 1957. The body was made of steel, with aluminum panels for the doors, hood, and trunk lid.  Power steering and air conditioning were options starting in 1956, becoming standard later . Inside, the Silver Cloud I was luxurious, with Connolly leather upholstery, Wilton wool carpets, and rich wood veneers. Some long-wheelbase models included a glass partition separating the front and rear compartments.
